JJ’s Jeeps is located in Gunnison, Colorado, the heart of the Rocky Mountains with close proximity to Crested Butte and Taylor Park. We are the only permitted OHV guiding service in the Gunnison National Forest and have a Bureau of Land Management guiding permit as well. Our guides have over 10 years of experience as well as a vast knowledge of the history, geography and biology of the Gunnison Valley.
There is no better way to experience the splendor of the Gunnison Country than from a Jeep or 4×4 vehicle! Go further than by foot, bicycle or horseback and enjoy more comfort and safety than in a dirt bike or ATV. As the Gunnison Valley’s only permitted off-road guiding operation, we take pride in the unique experience we offer our guests and cater our custom tours to meet you and your family’s needs, desires, ability level and time frame. Whether you want to see wildflowers, historic mining ruins, waterfalls, high alpine lakes or just escape the crowds, JJ’s Jeeps has a tour for you!
Mission Statement: To provide guests with fun, safe and educational 4×4 tours while minimizing our impact on the environment and promoting responsible trail use and etiquette.
Background: JJ’s Jeeps was founded in 2020 by owner/lead guide Jeremy Johndrow, better known as “JJ”. He moved to the Gunnison Valley to attend college in 2005 and quickly fell in love with the vast expanses of public land of Colorado’s Western Slope. It didn’t take him long to discover that there was no better way to explore this land than via 4×4. JJ got his first Jeep after his freshman year of college and started using it to take friends and family out into the mountains to show them the sights. After getting a degree in Business and Outdoor Recreation, JJ spent 6 winters guiding snowmobile tours in Crested Butte. He realized that guiding was his life’s calling and began to dream about combining that with his passions for off-roading, history, geology, and nature to make a living doing what he loves. A great opportunity arose in 2018 when the only 4×4 tour company in the valley was bought out and the new owners decided to no longer run off-road tours. JJ decided to take advantage of this and make his dream a reality by starting JJ’s Jeeps in 2020. Little did he know that COVID was waiting right around the corner! Despite the challenges of the pandemic, JJ’s Jeeps continues to grow every year with more guides, Jeeps and services offered!
